A Fruitful Sunday

It has been awhile since the whole gang of us met and caught up w one another. Frens whom I hv not seen for a very long time (approx a year) were present and the time tt we were not by one another's side just faded away, as we tried to cramp in as much details as possible about our current life, job, romance and any other major changes in that short 2-3 hrs that we spent together.

There were 8 of us present. 3 more were absent due to work commitments. On the way home, we wondered aloud when all 11 can be present at one time. We further wondered when we will get the full attendance of 11 x 2 = 22 pple (inclusive of partners).

Life seems to be flying past us. As the gals start on their 2nd/3rd year of work, the guys are also finally running their last lap in sch. After May/June tis yr, all of us will b full-pledged working members of society. No longer will we b teenagers at the cusp of adulthood, although a few of us do feel tt we are permanently stuck at the teenage stage, where our biggest worry was how to do well for our A-levels.

I m glad we r all moving fwd. No matter how we define success in life, it is heartening tt we stay connected as we draw near to enjoy the most exciting part of our lives. We hv our youth, earning power, health and sufficient energy to make the most out of our lives.

Of cos although we may all b growing more mature, we will always enjoy our dosage of KTV! Had fun blasting out the songs and it felt like the good old days at Katong Shopping Complex, where we would all troop to after school or during the sch hols. Though the songs, sound system, room may hv changed, the company is still a constant. I m glad tt we all had fun tis afternoon.

Wat followed was hving dinner at our usual hangout - Spinkypinkie's place. Her parents were as usual hospitable and the food was great! Totally had the CNY mood, but it will hv been tt much better if we don't hv to work tmr. Oh well, good things always come to an end sooner than expected.

All in all, a good weekend! Let us strive towards the coming weekend!!! Let me also hope for a successful mth-end closing with minimal errors! =)

Epic Movie - DUH

Only 1 word to describe the movie - DUH to the ultimate. Yes, it was funny, as in slapstick funny, but not refined funny.

The director of the flim couldn't even be bothered to cut the scenes properly, that the audience could actually see the extra's face, instead of the actor's face in not 1 scene, but at least 2 scenes! To me, it shows a downright disrespect for moviegoers.

In addition, there's no real storyline, and everything is just bits n pieces of different movies cut n pasted tog. Which is funny, but gets abit boring when it's just the same concept over n over again.

There was also too much American culture, which makes understanding the jokes at certain points in the movie difficult.

All in all, not worth the money. Can catch if u absolutely hv nothing better to do. The movie lasts barely more than an hr aniwae, which makes it even less value-for-money.

God is Great!

So glad to hv frens who care for me. A fren J, on seeing my msn nick, asked me if I am alright. On understanding the problem alittle, she volunteered and proceeded to pray for me.

'Dear God,

We thank you for being our loving father
For through you we experience a love that is everlasting
A love that is pure, a love that never fails

Lord, even as I pray for my sister..
You see the sadness and worries in her heart.
Let my sister know that you are by her side
And you are ever ready to take all that away, in exchange for your comfort and goodness.

Lord, you have a wonderful plan for each of our lives, and I pray that you will show us the way that you have planned for us
Be it in our work, be it in our friendships and even in our life partners.

We want yr favour upon us and Lord as you show us the way, may we be ever sensitive to hear what you want to tell us .
Let our hearts not be cold towards you, and let us be persistent in prayer for each and every of our needs
For you are our rock on whom we can anchor any emotions on.

Lord, as you have shown my sister of your grace and mercy upon her life, continue to watch over her
She is the apple of yr eye and Lord, strengthen her everytime she turns to you..
Let your blessing flow in her life and she continue to deepen her walk with you

I commit my sister into yr hands
In Jesus name..

Amen'

God is great! =)

Walk by Faith, and not by sight

This CNY, I shall make some resolutions:
  1. To walk by faith, and not by sight
  2. To take life one step at a time
  3. To think lesser and lead life happier

Resolutions r meant to b followed. Plain n simple. Don't hv to explain reasons behind them.

A fren just recommended me to listen to this:

Very nice Christian song! A timely reminder to take things into perspective, to let things go and trust God to provide.

The Pathway that Lies Before Me

A young, new preacher was walking with an older, more seasoned preacher in the garden one day. Feeling a bit insecure about what God had for him to do, he was asking the older preacher for some advice. The older preacher walked up to a rose bush and handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing any of the petals. The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and ministry. But, because of his great respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try and unfold the rosebud while keeping every petal intact .. .

It wasn't long before he realized how impossible this was to do. Noticing the young preacher's inability to unfold the rosebud without tearing it, the older preacher began to recite the following poem:

It is only a tiny rosebud
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
Then, in my hands, they die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
The flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So, I'll trust in Him for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the Pilgrim's way.

The pathway that lies before me
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

Couples Everywhere!

Everywhere I turned my head towards, I see couples..couples walking by hand in hand, couples hugging as they walk by, gals holding bouquets of flowers, guys looking on in adoration. Orchard Rd was chog-a-block w human traffic, and almost ALL were couples! Heart-shaped balloons floating in the air as everyone walk past one another. I must admit it's really looks different from the usual Singapore day.

At past 11pm, the MRT was still so full of young pple. N only on this day, will u c so many variations of flower bouquets, some w chocolate, some w bears. The fashion sense of some of the youngsters hv me completely bewildered though. I felt old in the crowd of pre-pubescent teens.

I will remember this Valentine's Day of 2007 well...it marks a fresh beginning, a renewed outlook, a new perspective... =)

Short Work Week!

I think I must be gg mad. I am actually getting used to the lifestyle of working till around 8-9pm, hving dinner at 10pm, surfing the net till 12+am, before tumbling into bed for around 6hrs of sleep.

N I m actually getting used to the above lifestyle! Where I used to complain about being tired by around 7pm, I am still gg strong at 8-9pm at work! *gasp* Am I becoming a workaholic? My mum commented today that I sounded happy although I was still working at 8+pm when she called.

I guess it all has to do w getting used to it, as well as the fact that I am on 1/2 day leave tmr and on course on Fri. No half-day for me on Fri, but the course tt day compensates for it. I guess we will b let out pretty early, cos the instructor will also want to go hm early. In any case, I am beginning to feel the CNY spirit!!! HOLIDAY!!!

(I shan't think about the fact that another mth end is upon me after I return from the holidays next week ;p)

Little Children

Caught the above movie over the weekend. Showcased the seemingly simple, yet complex relationships in society. Of biasness, societal norms, unforgiving attitude towards watever that is different. Leads us to think about ourselves.

A thought-provoking movie behind the overriding concepts of paedophile and sexual arousal from sth forbidden. The innocence of children paralleled to the 'wisdom' of adults. But are we truly wiser than children? Or are we just 'little children' in our adult suits?

Random

I was taking the mrt home tonight when I came face-to-face with Public Display(s) of Affection (PDA). They were at it for the whole journey, and frankly I didn't know if I should look and laff or turn my head away and smile to myself.

They were hugging each other, but tt's not all! They even kissed in the packed mrt and even made those smooching sounds! Not only tt, the guy even gave the gal a lovebite on the neck right then and there on the mrt!! It was a really long n hard lovebite k!!! (I know I said I wasn't staring, but come on, there was no other entertainment on the mrt, n so I looked.) If they were handsome and beautiful, I guess it won't be tt bad, but they weren't. I promised myself that I will never make a spectacle of myself this way. Scaly someone also write on his/her blog about my behaviour. Keke...=)

In other news, I find it a great irony of life that I complained when I wasn't using my brains. Now when I am using my brains, I am complaining that I am using too much. I am deeply inspired by an auditor who is auditing the current company. She has quitted (tmr is her last day) and is gg to join her bf in Stockholm for 2-3 mths. She just up and go liddat. Super xiao sa! N I am greatly inspired. She is only an Asst Yr 2, so her pay isn't that high. If she can do it, y can't the rest of us?

On a totally different note (again), let me part with a quote from Shakespeare: 'Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds.' I highly recommend everyone to read a thought-provoking and inspirational article at http://www.mp.sg/inspirational/25741.php.

Project Superstar 2

Although I am not a superb photographer, I am sure everyone would still be able make out the vaque shapes of Daren and Diya, the 2 finalists in Project Superstar 2.

Daren is really shuai!! *drools* Okok, he's not really shuai, but somehow the dimples and small eyes combine into a lethal mix on him!

Was surprised to hear that Diya's performance did not transmit well over the TV waves. Heard comments like she went flat, to 'u mean this is the std of the final 2?' Surprised bcos to us at the Indoor Stadium, both of them were equally good. But of cos Daren was the better performer cos he has wu tai mei li.

Seriously, I am very proud of them, cos they are Singaporeans! They have proven that Singaporeans have talent too, so let's not undermine the talents out there!

I hope Diya gets a contract too, cos she is also gd!

Love

'Love's about emotions.
If one wants to be emotionally strong,
It is akin to taking away the crux of luv.
One can only be emotionally strong by not loving.
Only when one is physically independent,
Can one be in control.
When all the above is done,
The result is one cannot love or be loved.

Love's not just about the physical.
Love's about sharing feelings and emotions,
Happiness and worries. Missing each other is love.
Even bothering to disagree is love.
Without all these, humans may b strong,
But devoid of love.

Our heart is no tap.
It can't be turned on n off at will.
We become strong,
But what results will be
Unfeeling and unloved creatures.'

Our Independence

Every woman should be independent. In this society we live in, we are as good as the next man by our side. So why don't we just depend on ourselves? Although I understand that no man can be an island, enough is enough and a line should be drawn. We should lead our lives by our own whims and wishes. Relying on someone else for emotional, mental, physical, monetary etc support will only put us back into those times where females were 2nd-class to males.

Since we live in the here n now, let's depend on ourselves and not look to anyone for support. If we can be independent from the time we came of age, why can't we be independent now? To relearn how NOT to rely on someone else and how to take care of ourselves alone shldn't b tt hard really.
